Campsite Le Bourg-d'Oisans

Slip on your best walking boots and set out along the hiking trails of the Oisans region without delay! Head for the Lac des Quirlies or the Cascade de la Fare waterfall, and plan a hike of the plateau d'Emparis lakes. Would you like to see more? Make for the source of the Romanche river, stopping off in the Écrins National Park, at the foot of the mountains. You can also take a canoe or kayak and explore the Alpine rivers from the water.

Your camping holidays in Le-Bourg-d’Oisans are also an ideal opportunity to explore some of the region’s cultural sites. Set off from Bons and follow the old Roman road that criss-crossed the Oisans region many centuries ago as far the Porte Romaine de Bons. You should also stop off at La-Garde-en-Oisans, an historic village, located between Le-Bourg-d’Oisans and  l’Alpe-d’Huez,  the first mention of which dates back to the Middle Ages. Then hop over to the château de Bourg d’Arud, a 17th century residence that has today been converted to a hotel.

Feeling peckish? Sit down and try some of the Isère’s legendary dishes right away... When it comes to meat, opt for some subtly flavoured “’agneau des alpages” (mountain lamb), before tasting “caïon fricassée” (pork in local dialect), a very old recipe where the meat is marinated in wine. Do you prefer fish? Treat yourself to some Arctic char, caught in the lakes of the Jura and Savoie, together with local chard or delicious “crozets” pasta. But remember to save some room for the generous cheese platter and treat yourself do a nibble of Emmental de Savoie, Beaufort or Tomme de Savoie.
