Once you’ve settled in your campsite, head to the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park, a unique natural space where you can enjoy a wide range of sports activities. The Chartreuse Regional Nature Park, two thirds of which is covered by forest, features numerous marked hiking trails making it perfect for exploring, at your own pace, with family and friends. Trail-running or mountain-bike excursions for the more seasoned athletes, walking and picnicking for trainees! Roam the mountains, stopping off to explore some of the region’s natural sites of interest: the Dent de Crolles, an impressive limestone peak, or geographical formations called “Lapiaz,” with deep grooves and cracks. Do you still have a little energy left? You can also try outdoor climbing or paragliding.

Cultural heritage in the Chartreuse mountains

Of course, nature is everywhere in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse... But there also many interesting heritage sites worth visiting. Evidence of human presence in the Chartreuse massif can be dated back to the Paleolithic period. You can walk in the footsteps of these prehistoric ancestors by visiting the grotte de Jean-Pierre cave in Saint-Thibaud-de-Couz, or the rock shelters at l’Aulp du Seuil. Then take a leap forward in time with a visit to Grésivaudan, the so-called “valley of one hundred castles.” Here, you’ll discover several castles and fortified houses built from the 12th century onwards, during the clashes between the Counts of Savoie and the Seigneurs, or Lords, of Dauphiné.

Berville-sur-Mer and the famous Esplanade de la Liberté, Saint-Sulpice-de-Grimbouville and the medieval house, not-to-mention the stained glass windows of Saint-Hélier de Beuzeville church... Set off to explore the surrounding castles and churches by bicycle. Stop by a passionate local fruit producer or winegrower. There are a number of hiking trails across the region of Calvados.
Festivals, celebrations, concerts, markets and much more. In the evenings, the festivities carry on in Honfleur itself or with the entertainment on your campsite.
